Tomales Bay Writers' Workshops (early bird and fellowship deadline May 6, 2011)
The Albert and Elaine Borchard Foundation, in conjunction with the Creative Writing Program at the University of California, Davis, and program director Pam Houston, is offering three fellowships to the seventh annual Tomales Bay Writers' Workshops, held each October in Marin. Fellowships cover the cost of tuition (which includes room and board). One fellowship each will be awarded for poetry, fiction and nonfiction/personal essay. Fellowship and early bird deadline is May 6, and the Workshops take place October 19-23, 2011.
This annual event brings aspiring writers into close community with award-winning, nationally known poets and writers, and respected editors and agents for four days of intensive conversation about craft. Keynoting this year's event is Emmy-winning Jamaican poet, writer and singer Kwame Dawes, author of Back of Mount Piece, She's Gone and the interactive Pulitzer Center's Hope. Faculty this year includes novelist and poet Dorothy Allison; poet Jon Davis; novelist and memoirist Fenton Johnson; fiction writer Melinda Moustakis; novelist and short story writer Benjamin Percy; and fiction writer and memoirist Danzy Senna.
If you could let your members know about the fellowships (through email, your group's website, Facebook page, etc.), I'd be extremely appreciative. Applications are available on the event's website, www.extension.ucdavis.edu/tomales .
